About Jeanne

Jeanne Matthews

The Dinah Pelerin mysteries were inspired by my love of travel. Like me, Dinah was born and raised in Georgia and, like me, she travels as far and as often as she can. A wannabe cultural anthropologist, she tries to make sense of the local customs, current politics, and ancient myths of the places she visits. Unlike me, Dinah has a habit of encountering murder along the way and turns her natural curiosity to the task of solving the crimes.

The Garnick & Paschal mysteries were inspired by my love of American history and my retrospective anger at the hardships and discrimination women of the 19th Century faced. Detective Quinn Paschal defies the prejudice against women who dare to work outside the home, let alone in a profession so contrary to the Cult of Domesticity.

In addition to writing, I enjoy long walks, people and books that make me laugh, and vintage rock ’n roll. I live in Renton, Washington with my husband and a Norwich terrier named Reacher.
